Braces for Teens

Changing Lives

One Smile at a time

At McClaran Orthodontics, we are committed to giving your teen a smile that gives them the confidence to face the world bravely. One of the best ways to earn this smile is through braces, and Dr. McClaran and our team of specialists are more than qualified to outfit your teen with a treatment that works. Braces are the most time-tested orthodontic treatment available. Over the generations that they’ve been around, they’ve been tweaked to perfection to deliver beautiful results every time. If your teen is experiencing issues that are harming their oral health or the look of their pearly whites, then braces may be the right option for them.

How Long Will I Wear Braces?

Treatment length in braces varies from patient to patient. It depends on how severe the problems are that need correcting and how well patients treat their appliances. For most patients, treatment length ranges from one to two years. To figure out what treatment might look like for you, contact our office and schedule your first appointment today. Once you’re in the chair, Dr. McClaran can assess your needs and how long it may take to fix them.

What Foods Will I Have to Avoid When Getting Braces?

When in braces, there are a few foods to avoid to preserve your appliance. To prevent any broken brackets or loose wires, we strongly recommend avoiding any sticky, chewy, or hard foods. These types of foods are known for pulling at wires and lengthening treatment time. To avoid any unwanted breakage, stick to softer and easier to chew foods!

How Do I Care for My Teeth While Wearing Braces?

Braces are an investment, and we don’t want anything to come in the way of you getting the beautiful smile you deserve in a timely manner. To take care of this investment, we encourage you to maintain your current oral healthcare routine of brushing twice a day and flossing frequently. It can be a little harder to reach certain areas, so they may require extra attention to avoid any lost food particles and debris. We want you to have a healthy smile in and out of braces, so make sure you keep your pearly whites pearly and white year-round.

How Do I Protect My Mouth When Playing Sports with Braces?

Wearing braces doesn’t have to stop you from playing the sports you love! Whether it be soccer or volleyball, you can protect your teeth while scoring the next point. We offer orthodontic mouth guards that fit over your braces and keep the metal brackets from rubbing or mashing against your mouth and lips. This way, even if something hits your face, your appliance won’t get damaged or cause discomfort.

How Much Do Braces Cost?

The price of braces varies depending on how long you’re in treatment and how extensive the issues being addressed are. Braces are an investment into higher self-esteem and improved aesthetics, and we are dedicated to making this treatment accessible to all. We have created a wide array of flexible financing plans and work with your insurance provider to ensure that beautiful smiles are available to everyone.

Benefits of Braces

Braces have been a staple of orthodontics for years because they work! As you know, braces straighten teeth to deliver a magazine-worthy grin, but that’s not all they do. The improved aesthetics is an important part of orthodontics because improved self-esteem usually means an improved quality of life, but braces also improve oral health. Many health issues could be caused by overcrowding or a misaligned jaw, and braces help fix these issues before they cause permanent damage to your mouth and jaw.

With braces, your teen doesn’t have to worry about forgetting to put them in or misplacing them. We all know teens are always on the go, and braces give them one less thing to worry about. Besides a consistent oral healthcare routine and avoiding a few foods, the treatment is relatively low maintenance. They can get the smile of theirs dreams almost effortlessly.
