What Is Invisalign?
Invisalign consists of a series of clear aligners that are adjusted little by little until you achieve your desired results. They are printed with a thermoplastic material called SmartTrack that has been designed for patient comfort. The aligners are made to fit snugly over patients’ teeth so that there is consistent pressure for intentional shifting. New aligners are given to the patient and they are expected to change them every week so that their smile can transform into the healthy and beautiful grin everyone deserves.
How Do I Care for My Invisalign Aligners?
Caring for your Invisalign aligners is easy! All you need to do is maintain your current oral healthcare routine of brushing at least twice a day and flossing often. After you finish brushing your teeth, use your toothbrush and warm water to scrub away any harmful bacteria from your aligners. This way your aligners don’t hold any nasty passengers when you place them into your clean mouth.
What Is the Treatment Process?
The treatment process begins with an evaluation so that our doctor can properly assess your needs. We will take a 3D image of your mouth, which allows us to see every detail and create an individualized treatment plan based on what your smile should look like after treatment. Dr. McClaran will then form this treatment plan based on what she has observed and what the desired results look like.
Once you begin treatment you will receive all your aligners at once. The aligners are ordered to perfectly fit over your teeth, leaving no wiggle room. After your done with your first set of aligners, you will need to change them out for a new set that has been slightly adjusted every week until the end of your treatment. To make sure everything is going smoothly you will come into the office every 12 weeks so that we can ensure everything is shifting properly.
How Much Does Invisalign Cost?
The cost of Invisalign varies depending on the extent of the issues being corrected and time spent in the clear aligners. The more problems that need attention, the greater the possibility you will need to remain in treatment for longer. However, we will work with your insurance provider to help decrease out-of-pocket costs for your Invisalign aligners. We also provide a variety of flexible financing plans so that all payments are manageable for our patients. We believe great oral health should be accessible to all, so our team works to dampen the costs of this great investment into a better quality of life.
How Will Invisalign Affect My Lifestyle?
Invisalign won’t affect your lifestyle at all! These clear aligners are gaining so much popularity because they provide flexibility and freedom as well as gorgeous results. They are easily removable, so you can eat whatever you like or even go to a special event without worrying about your aligners. As long as you keep the aligners in for at least 20 to 22 hours per day, you can get the smile of your dreams with little to no impact on your daily life.
How Long Do I Have to Wear My Aligners for Each Day?
For maximum efficiency, we suggest that you wear your clear aligners for at least 20 to 22 hours per day. This may seem like a lot, but this gives you a couple of hours to eat whatever you want or even play your favorite sport. Invisalign is an investment, and the best way to protect this investment is to make sure they are given the chance to succeed. Your teeth need consistent pressure to shift in a desirable way, and can quickly shift back in the middle of treatment if aligners aren’t worn properly.
Are There Any Food Restrictions with Invisalign?
None! You can eat whatever you like while in Invisalign treatment. The clear aligners need to removed to eat anything, so nothing you eat could damage your appliance. There is no risk of broken brackets or poking wires, so you can enjoy all of your favorite treats while working towards the smile you’ve always wanted.
Do I Still Need to See My Dentist While Wearing Invisalign?
It’s important that you continue to see your general dentist while in treatment. As orthodontists, we focus on different areas of the mouth that don’t cover things such as cleanings and check-ups. A healthy mouth is crucial for successful treatment, so continue to attend your regularly scheduled appointments with your typical dentist. A dream smile takes the assistance of multiple experts, so make sure you are taking care of your teeth so that we can as well!
